RandoMedia 2.7 Random WAV, MIDI and CD Player for Windows 9x and Windows NT RandoMedia is a random WAV, MIDI, and CD player for Windows 9x and Windows NT. Select specific files from anywhere on your machine, and play them either in the order you selected, or in a totally random order. Play WAV, MIDI, and CDs one at a time, or all formats simultaneously. Freeware, but donations always accepted :) About the Author: ================= Stephen Kazmierczak zik@lina.transcendence.net http://lina.transcendence.net/~zik/ Please send any questions/comments/bug reports/etc. Thanks. Version Log: ============ Version 2.7 - Fixed bug where a file would play even if device was inactive. - Added .rsl extention. Original .rm extention still supported. (RealAudio decided that they need the .rm extention, and took it. Version 4 and 5 of RealAudio register the .rm extention as a RealMedia file (whatever the heck RealMedia is supposed to be - as opposed to FakeMedia, I guess). If installed after RealAudio 4 or 5, RandoMedia will overwrite the .rm extention to use for itself. If RandoMedia was installed prior to RealAudio 4+, RealAudio will overwrite the .rm extention for itself.) - Added Drag-and-Drop support for RandoMedia Save Lists. Simply drag any RandoMedia list (.rm or .rsl) onto the main program window, or into the selected files boxes on the Select Files form, and the contents of the file(s) will be added to the play list. - Only one instance of RandoMedia will run at one time. Now, if another instance of RandoMedia is started by double-clicking a song list, or by dragging a song list onto the .EXE, the currently running RandoMedia will add the song list to current memory. - Open and Save Dialog boxes remember the previous working directory. - Fixed a bug where devices would not start playing on quick-start if synchronous play was active. Version 2.6 - Rewrote internal components. Should be a little faster and more stable. - Add file drop-down boxes. Enables view of current, previous, and next files. Also, you can use the drop-down box to select a file to play. (NOTE: Pressing Reshuffle while playing can sometimes cause weird behavior.) - Added Load Play List, Add Play List, and Save Play List to the File menu on the main window. Load clears your current play list first, where Add adds the contents of the file to the play list. Version 2.5 - Recompiled using Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0... Loads and runs REAL quick now (unfortunately, it's also slightly larger) - Fixed a display bug where the currently playing file name would not refresh if only one device was selected - Fixed a bug where program would appear to randomly crash when adding a file to the play list - Fixed Pause bug. MIDI files and CD's now pause properly - Added tool tips to all the buttons Version 2.0 - * Totally re-wrote everything * - Totally new user interface - Added the ability to play CDs (audio and data/audio) - When playing different formats simultaneously, controls appear so you can control the devices independently - Displays currently playing file (for each format) - Added pause/unpause - Autoplays RandoMedia list (.rm) files on double-click of list files (right-click and select "Open" to open the list but not autoplay it; add /p on the command line after the file name to autoplay, e.g.: C:\RandoMedia\RandoMedia.exe C:\RandoMedia\Cool.rm /p) - 100% Backwards-compatible (the format of .rm files is unchanged; you can use your old lists with the new version) - Probably introduced new bugs (features) :( Previous versions: ------------------ Version 1.6 - Added a Random Reshuffle option. This option is visible only if both Random Play and Repeat Play are on. After a list has been played through, it will be reshuffled before playing again. - Added "Up" and "Down" buttons to the File Selection window. Allows the user to move files up and down in the 'select files' area. Works best with Random Play off. - Fixed Invalid Drive Error bug... again. It really works this time. Version 1.5 - RandoMedia now uses the Windows registry extensively. All .rm files are associated with RandoMedia. So, you can double-click a saved list file, and RandoMedia opens with the file's contents in memory. Also, you can load a file's contents by specifying the file as a command-line parameter or by dragging-and-dropping the file onto RandoMedia or a RandoMedia shortcut. Version 1.4 - Fixed a bug that would cause the program to crash if you selected an invalid drive, or previously selected a drive that is now invalid. - RandoMedia now minimizes to the system tray in Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. All navigation buttons, such as start/stop, prev, next, and reshuffle, are a right-click away. Version 1.31 - Saves current working directory on exit. Should have been in version 1.2, but I didn't think of it. Not enough for a major version increase. Version 1.3 - Added a feature which allows users to save the current list of selected files to disk. This list can later be retrieved and played from memory. - Setup now installs the RandoMedia shortcut to Programs\Accessories\Multimedia. Version 1.2 - Added an option to save the current configuration on exit. RandoMedia now remembers what device was last used, and whether random and/or repeat play was selected. Version 1.1 - Changed layout of file selection window. The complete file names of previously selected files can now be seen in their entirety. Version 1.0 - First complete working version.
