Zik’s Trip to Italy

July-August, 2001

Hey all. From July 22nd to August 4th, I was on a Perillo Tours led tour of Italy. We hit all the major sites, including Rome, the Vatican, Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, the Island of Capri, Florence, Venice, and Milan (with an afternoon in Switzerland). It was the “14-Day Italy North Classic (with a touch of Switzerland), starting in Rome.” Throughout the entire trip I had my friend’s Olympus D-460 digital camera, and I took a whole messa pictures. Some came out very good, others not so much. But they’re all here regardless. Yes, the trip kicked ass. We had an awesome group of people on the tour (of whom you'll get to see - some more than others), and I know everyone had a great time.

Oh, if you’ve never been to Italy, I highly recommend taking a Perillo Tour. You are introduced to all the major sites (and get to sneak in the back doors without waiting hours in line) and are given enough information so you know what to hit on your next trip :)

But anyway, on to the pictures! The sites below are in chronological order (even if the pictures within them are not). Names in captions have been changed to protect the innocent. Many pictures have pop-up descriptions if you hold your mouse over them a bit.

Single Shots - Standard Pictures of Stuff

Rome and The Vatican
Naples and Pompeii
Sorrento and the Island of Capri
Florence and Pisa
Venice
Milan and Switzerland

Panoramic Shots - AKA Fun with the Digital Camera

There are only a few, so they are all grouped together here. The quality here ranges from “ouch” to “that’s multiple shots stitched together into one photo? Whoa!” I’ve also included the individual shots, so for the bad ones you can use your imagination to sew them together.
